As Descanso Gardens has continued to grow, new spaces have been rediscovered and repurposed to further the mission of curating and stewarding landscapes. The first big foray into an unused part of the estate opened up The Oak Woodland, a tribute to the native Southern California climate. On this part of the property is the Boddy Lodge, a cute little lodge house aside the main lake that sat unused for years. Once renovated, the Lakeside Lounge hosted some great after hours summer events! On to the Ancient Forest, a section of Descanso dedicated to Cycads and a variety of other prehistoric plants, designed to show foliage from another time. Alongside each public garden opening is an exclusive presentation for high-level members and donors, so an invite series branded specifically to the Center Circle level membership collateral communicates directly to those members.
I’ve worked with Heather on several projects for Descanso Gardens. There are many talented designers out there, but Heather’s services are next-level. Not only is she a talented creative professional, but she is able to see the big picture, and has helped us to focus our overall marketing strategy over the past six months. When we hire Heather, we know we are getting much more than a good-looking piece of collateral — we are getting her thoughtfulness and years of experience in brand messaging. Heather is professional and a pleasure to work with every step of the way, from her detailed written proposal to delivery of the final piece. Thanks, Heather!
